Where Owls Live

     Most owls live in hollow trees with holes.  Great horned owls live in snowy forests or dry desserts.  Elf owls live in cactuses.  Great horned owls are mostly found in North- America.  Some owls even live in small cities!!!  Some owls live in nests.  Some owls even steel other owls nests whale l the other owl that they are taking from.  Owls mostly try to live away from most crows so they donÕt have to worry about them.

There are many kinds of owls.  There are 134 kinds of owls in fact.  When are day begins There are many kin most owls days end, because owls are nocturnal. What and How Owls Eat

 

 Some owls eat squirrels.  Most owls eat rodents and other things.  Owls eat their prey.  An owl will make a pellet every 16 hours. Eagle owls pellets are very big. Mountenlions eat owls!  Great horned owls are like tigers because they eat so much food.  An owl pellet is the hair and bones from its meal.  Some owls even eat skunk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

What Owls Do

 

Most owls are nocturnal.  Owls have special eyes to help them see in the dark.  Nocturnal means they sleep in the day and wake- up at nighttime.  Male owls voices are gruff but femaleÕs voices are high.  Owls can turn their heads almost all the way around!  Some owls take nests from other owls.  Female owls lay eggs.  Owlet eggs hatch quickly.  Owls love to fly if they can. What Owls Look Like

Owls have beaks called bills.  Talons are owlÕs feet.  Owls have wings, feathers, and talons.  Owls have sharp beaks.  The eagle owls wingspan is the biggest.  Owls have feathers next to their talons.  Some owlÕs feathers blend into trees so they are hard to find.  Owls have flat faces.  The great horned owl has big horns.  Owls have big eyes to help them see at night.  Baby owlets are almost always pink.  Other animals cannot hear their wings.  Owls ears are little holes in there head
